There was a good turn out from the club at the BHAA ESB 5km beach race on Sandymount last Tuesday. With the tide out and a mild evening there was good underfoot conditions for the runners who did 2 laps of a 2.5km out and back course. Ruth Kelly put in a sprint finish to make up ground to come second, one second behind the evening ladies winner Orla Gormley and about 10 seconds ahead of our own Rachel Morgan who came third. I’m fairly sure Stephanie Bergin ran well on the evening (even if her time is missing from the results atm) and Tara Murphy who cycled to the event ran a steady race. The gents were represented by Stephen Willoughby, Conor Kenny and myself all three of whom could be said to have made it around the course without incident. If i missed anybody please let me know. Full results can be seen on the BHAA website. The next BHAA event is the 5 Mile Government Services race in Dunboyne on Tuesday May 28th.
BHAA Bank Of Ireland Beach Race
A bright but windy morning saw a few club members take on the Bank Of Ireland organised beach race on Dollymount Strand. The distance may have been longer than the advertised 5km but it didn’t stop our runners. Ed McEntee having recently been promoted to a new age category took second in the category and 9th over all. Our club statesmen Stephen, Conor and Killian ran the first lap in formation chasing Phillip Kerr. Full results are on the BHAA website. The next race is the Irish Life 6km Combined Cross Country race on Saturday 24th Nov at 11am in Santry.

BHAA RTE 5 Mile 2012
There was a large turn out of club members at yesterdays 5 mile road race which is held under BHAA rules on a four lap course around the grounds of RTE in Donnybrook. Phil lead the club home in 6th place overall with Mairead coming 3rd in the senior ladies category. It was great to see the Brady twins back in action with Claire and Maria having good runs. Breda Brown and Aileen also raced and we saw the return to racing after a layoff of 18 months from Ellen. Phillip Kerr retained his Std 11 and only three places separated the McMurrow brothers and Conor Kenny had a standard improving run. Trevor and Judith Lloyd also ran and were on standby at the prize presentation to take entries to the club race next sunday. Sideline coaching was provided my Emily and Susan McD. I won’t even comment on my own run. http://bhaa.ie/members/app/event/index/tag/rte2012 Good luck to the guys travelling to gowran tomorrow for the Leinster road races.
