Think he ran 74. He's got some national XC team medals in the B category too. And he recently got a first class honours degree - by studying at night and working all day. Imagine what he could do if he'd time to train? Sub 2.40 perhaps. And he's always first on the bus for a team event, providing support to his greyhound teammates up front. Members make up teams and teams win prizes. In my 13 + years at Sportsworld few people have represented the true spirit of the club the way Ronan Merrick has. A work horse and trojan competitor Ronan has finally taken the No.1 spot on the podium. For years, Ronan has unselfishly made up those all important points in securing team prizes. To win the inaugural Dublin Mountain Half Marathon says something about Ronan. Yes he is tough, yes he is fast but he is also understated, modest and a high achiever.
